Ferrari 599XX Sets New Record In Germany

Ferrari said they’d created a vehicle that would outperform all others and now the world will agree. The Ferrari 599XX is the fastest production-based car on the road. I found this sweet video on Autoblog today, of a Ferrari 599XX tearing around the 20.832 km Nordschleife circuit racetrack in just under 7 minutes – a new record!! Autoblog reports:

Ferrari has just broken the seven-minute barrier for production cars by laying down a scorching 6 minute, 58.16 second lap time around one of the world’s most grueling courses in the new 599XX.

Watching the 700 horsepower beast devour the German tarmac is mesmerizing, as is the sound of that melodious V12. …

The audio in this is thrilling if you boost the bass a bit and turn up the volume til it screams… Watch and drool:

The engine sounds amazing (my heart is racing now), but I’m more in awe of the driver. Autoblog calls this one “demi-god” test-driver Raffaele De Simone. Congrats to the new King of the ‘Ring!

Ferrari’s Chief Executive Amadeo Felisa won’t be eating his words anytime soon. NYTimes Wheels blog quoted him earlier this month, saying in a promo video:

“On the 599XX we have managed to make a vehicle that nobody else has ever made,” said Amadeo Felisa, the chief executive of Ferrari, in a video on the Ferrari Web site. “With structure and an architecture with the front engine, we have obtained a vehicle that nobody else will be able to equal in performance.”
