Ferrari Confirms Alonso & Massa’s Seats In 2011

Silly season continues as rumours buzz through the F1 paddocks and fans speculate around the globe. One such rumour involved Felipe Massa moving to another team, despite having a contract with Ferrari. But thanks to a very wet day on the Suzuka circuit on Saturday, Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali had time to confirm that both Alonso and Massa will keep their seats in the stallion cars next season.

While chatting with Eddie Jordan and David Coulthard outside the Ferrari Team office, Domenicali cleared the air:

“First of all, it [the rumour] is categorically wrong and I just confirmed that officially. … We are a team and we rely – we totally rely – on our drivers that we are very happy with.”

When asked for clarification that Ferrari’s lineup for the 2011 Formula 1 season will remain the same and will include Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, Domenicali replied, “Absolutely.

So there ya have it, no need to speculate where Ferrari stands on the issue. However, it still doesn’t clarify how Massa feels – as Alonso’s teammate, as 2nd best driver in Ferrari’s eyes, etc. Will Massa also choose to stay with the Italian stallions?
