Kirkwood
Kirkwood is a magnificent ski/snowboard resort with a diverse range of terrain for beginner sliders and pro park riders alike. At a majestic 7800′ elevation, it gets more snow than most other resorts in the area. Kirkwood is locally famous for having deep powder runs all season and great deals on tickets and season passes. Kirkwood isn’t officially in the Lake Tahoe area, it’s approximately 30 miles south of the town of South Lake Tahoe (where Heavenly Ski Resort is located). Coming from the Sacramento/SF Bay Area, you would drive along highway 88 to get to Kirkwood – not highway 50 like you’d take to South Lake Tahoe nor highway 80 that you’d take to get to Truckee/North Lake Tahoe areas.
